Following a period of successful growth including expansion overseas, the School is now looking to recruit a high calibre Bursar to support the Headmistress and Governors in the implementation of the School’s ambitious vision and strategy. As a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Bursar will develop and drive the infrastructure and commercial strategy through the effective management and delivery of support services. The Bursar will have oversight of the day-to-day support operations with responsibility for functions which include Finance, Estates, Facilities, HR, Health and Safety, Catering, IT and Domestic Services, and the School’s commercial activities. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing finance, people and resources in a large and complex setting and be able to deliver change through outstanding leadership and effective collaboration.

Candidate Brief Bursar

 

We are looking for a talented and dedicated Development Officer to join Wycombe Abbey’s Development and External Relations team, which is responsible for engaging a wide range of stakeholders in the current and future activities of this high-achieving independent girls’ boarding school.

The Development Officer will actively contribute to driving engagement in the School’s activities by taking responsibility for the Development database and prospect research, as well as co-ordinating national and international development events and assisting the Communications team.

The successful candidate for this exciting new role will be detail-oriented and ideally have experience in developing and implementing fundraising or marketing materials and coordinating events. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Office is essential and experience with The Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar CRM database is strongly desired.

Development Officer

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and able teacher to join our large and vibrant PE department. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing individual sporting profiles of our pupils, leading the School’s Aspiring Athlete Support Programme, overseeing individual and team strength and conditioning programmes and promoting performance levels across the School.  The ability to teach academic PE is desirable and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants who specialise in lacrosse, netball or tennis.

Wycombe Abbey enjoys exceptional sporting facilities including a state-of-the-art sports centre, 5 lacrosse pitches, a large floodlit Astroturf pitch, sixteen netball courts and twenty tennis courts.

The School has its own salary scale which is well above that of the maintained sector.

Wycombe Abbey is a world leader in girls’ education and we are seeking someone who will value the opportunity to be involved in the modernisation and development of our learning resources.

The Librarian is expected to work during Wycombe Abbey term time plus some additional weeks during the school holidays.

The Librarian is responsible for line management of the Librarian’s Assistant and also oversees the school archives.

The successful candidate will ideally be a graduate with previous significant experience of library/resource centre management, preferably within an education setting.

Librarian - Applicant Details

Application Form For Support Staff

We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic and able applicants to provide cover in boarding houses working with around 60 girls aged 11-18.  This is an important support role within our pastoral teams, working under the direction of the Housemistress and Assistant Housemistress to create a welcoming, supportive, encouraging and cheerful environment for our girls.

The successful candidates will ideally have previous experience working with young people, a positive “can-do” attitude, a practical approach, warmth, enthusiasm and strong communication and organisational skills.

Duties will include providing a welcoming presence within the house, routine tasks such as laundry and organisation of supplies and deliveries, house administration tasks, ensuring that the house is tidy and any other duties to assist the house team.

Applicants must be willing to be called upon, usually at short notice, to provide cover across any of the Boarding Houses. The hours will predominantly be afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Relief Boarding Assistant Job Description

Application Form For Support Staff

Graduate Resident Tutor September 2020 – July 2021

This role is an exciting opportunity for graduates with an interest in education to gain experience for one academic year (10 months) in this prestigious, forward-thinking and high-achieving school.

Wycombe Abbey employs 12 Resident Tutors each year: 1 in each of the 9 senior boarding houses (age 12– 17), 2 in our Junior House (age 11-12) and one in our Upper Sixth House. Each Resident Tutor is attached to one specific House and is an important member of the House pastoral team under the guidance of the Housemistress.  Duties will include assisting with wake-ups and bedtimes, organising activities, attending House parties and outings.

A Resident Tutor will be attached to at least 1 academic department, or a key administrative/operational department such as Admissions. There will be opportunities to observe lessons and, if desired, to team-teach and contribute to School life.

There may also be opportunities to help with university preparation lessons and to help with activities such as drama, sport or music, according to each applicant’s particular interests. This may be part of a timetabled lesson, or in the evenings/weekends.
