We require a talented leader to join the existing high-performing team as Director of Sixth Form, to be responsible to the Headmistress for the academic progress and pastoral wellbeing of the Lower and Upper Sixth girls. The post-holder will be a member of the School’s Executive Leadership Team and will make an important contribution to the general strategic planning and direction of Wycombe Abbey.

This is a residential role in our standalone Upper Sixth boarding house and family accommodation is provided all year round on a beautiful site with free meals during term time.

The Sixth Form has recently been redesigned to include three Deputy Heads of Sixth Form as well as a dedicated administrator. The post-holder also oversees the Higher Education process, with the support of an experienced team.

The Director of Sixth Form will teach approximately 0.4 of a timetable, and any academic subject relevant to our curriculum will be considered, as well as the particular strengths of the successful applicant.

The Assistant Housemistress resides in a boarding house and assists the Housemistress and House team in overseeing each girl’s personal and academic development, taking a full and active role in all aspects of life within the boarding house.

The Assistant Housemistress can usually expect to teach up to 22 periods each week and any academic subject relevant to our curriculum will be considered. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who are able to teach French, Spanish, Classics, English, Maths or Biology but applications from all disciplines are welcomed.

Assistant Housemistress - Applicant Information

This role is an exciting opportunity for graduates with an interest in education to gain experience for one academic year in this prestigious, forward-thinking and high-achieving school.

Wycombe Abbey employs 12 Resident Tutors each year: 1 in each of the 9 senior boarding houses (age 12– 17), 2 in our Junior House (age 11-12) and one in our Upper Sixth House. Each Resident Tutor is attached to one specific House and is an important member of the House pastoral team under the guidance of the Housemistress.  Duties will include assisting with wake-ups and bedtimes, organising activities, attending House parties and outings.

A Resident Tutor will be attached to at least 1 academic department, or a key administrative/operational department such as Admissions, according to degree and A-Level subjects. There will be opportunities to observe lessons and, if desired, to team-teach and contribute to School life.  There may also be opportunities to help with university preparation lessons.

There will be opportunities to help with activities such as drama, sport or music, according to each applicant’s particular interests. This may be part of a timetabled lesson, or in the evenings/at weekends.

This is an exciting time for an enthusiastic and creative DT Technician to join our team and get involved in moving DT forward, both as a subject in its own right and as a vital component of the STEM vision within this world class school.

Working alongside the Head of DT and Director of STEM, you will support initiatives to inspire and challenge the pupils to be imaginative, ambitious and creative problem-solvers whilst contributing towards the efficient and smooth running of the department. There is also the opportunity to participate in other departmental projects, such as the Greenpower car.

You should be flexible and organised and have the ability to work independently. Relevant experience of using workshop machinery and the ability to demonstrate their safe use is desirable. Experience of working in an educational DT/Art/Science department would be advantageous, although all training can be provided.

Hours of work: 45hrs/week during term time, to include Saturdays and occasional Sundays, plus two weeks per annum during School Holidays. Your core hours will be agreed with the Head of DT at the beginning of every academic year. Job share will be considered.

Salary: Circa £25,500 pa.

DT Technician

Application Form for Support Staff

 

We are seeking a candidate with exceptional attention to detail to assist the Academic Data Manager with the efficient running of the iSAMS database.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working with database software, as well as proficient IT skills. They will be able to demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude, ability to work methodically, accurately and independently, plus strong organisational skills.

Duties will include assisting with the inputting of pupil and staff data and giving support, training and advice to staff who use the system. Previous knowledge of iSAMS is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

Hours:

12 hours per week during term time, ideally across 5 days, plus two weeks prior to the start of the Autumn Term (approx. 34 weeks per year in total). Flexibility regarding hours of work is required to meet with the needs of the department e.g. late afternoon working during Parent/Teacher meetings

Academic Data Assistant

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Helpdesk administrator who will play a key role in the ICT Support Team. As the first port of call for pupils and staff in this leading girls’ boarding school, you will be responsible for answering phone calls in a professional and polite manner, alongside general office administration. This includes day-to-day office admin as well as administering all helpdesk requests, via the helpdesk system or in person, escalating issues you are unable to resolve as and when appropriate. As the Helpdesk administrator, you should be able to work well under your own initiative and have a proactive attitude to work.

The successful applicant will be a team player with practical skills along with a positive approach, excellent customer service expertise and a can-do attitude. They will also require previous experience of working in an ICT role or similar.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week including some Saturday mornings during term-time. 35 hours per week during Wycombe Abbey School Holidays.

Duties will include:

  • Assist the Head of ICT Services in keeping good records and procedures, minuting departmental meetings, submitting orders, obtaining quotations, compiling documents, setting up files etc.
  • Helpdesk administration and escalation
  • Take phone calls on the helpdesk line and solve simple requests
  • Providing first line technical support and advice to staff and pupils
  • Ensure that staff and students are kept fully and promptly informed of all network problems that affect the smooth running of the school
  • Maintain a high level of general housekeeping and good order on the departmental systems.
  • Responsible for Ordering, distributing and billing of ICT consumables including school based software.

Salary: Dependent on experience.
