Wycombe Abbey has been at the forefront of girls’ boarding education for the last 120 years. We have a part-time vacancy for a School Counsellor who will provide a comprehensive counselling service focused on the mental health and resilience of all pupils, including those considered at risk and those with additional needs. The Counsellor will employ and develop a range of therapeutic interventions to encourage confidence, independence, reflection and resilience in young people, whilst supporting them with individual needs. The Counsellor will work in partnership with senior pastoral staff to assist with the further development of a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing of pupils. A counselling service to support staff wellbeing will also be provided on an ad hoc basis.
The role is based in our Health Centre which plays a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the girls and staff at Wycombe Abbey.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working with teenagers and will have significant experience of counselling young people. Previous experience in a school role is desirable but not essential.
