Wycombe Abbey is a full boarding school which provides an outstanding all-round education for girls aged 11 to 18.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to take on a pastoral role. This post would suit either a Newly Qualified Teacher or an experienced teacher.  Full support and mentoring is given to those new to the profession.

The Assistant Housemistress resides in a boarding house and assists the Housemistress and House team in overseeing each girl’s personal and academic development, taking a full and active role in all aspects of life within the boarding house.

The Assistant Housemistress can usually expect to teach up to 22 periods each week and any academic subject relevant to our curriculum will be considered.

Accommodation is provided all year round on a beautiful site in the centre of High Wycombe with free meals during term time. Wycombe Abbey has its own salary scale which compares favourably with other independent schools and is well above that of the maintained sector.

Assistant Housemistress - Applicant Details

Wycombe Abbey is a full boarding School which provides an outstanding all-round education for girls aged 11 to 18.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Coordinator to work alongside Heads of Departments to ensure that the School is compliant, providing guidance and assistance on health and safety related issues. Duties will include RIDDOR reporting, maintaining records of health and safety testing and ensuring compliance with Fire Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Hours: Full or part time/term time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will have previous experience within a similar health and safety role and will ideally hold an IOSH and/or NEBOSH certificate. You must be an effective communicator and be able to use your own initiative. A flexible ‘can do’ attitude is also essential, as is the ability to provide the very best level of service to all staff, pupils and other stakeholders.

Health & Safety Coordinator - Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and dynamic mathematician to join a thriving department. We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and able graduate to teach Maths throughout the School.  This post would suit either a Newly Qualified Teacher or an experienced teacher.  Full support and mentoring is given to those new to the profession.  The department is comprised of 14 teachers who all teach across the age range.  Maths attracts a large number of girls at A level, with two or three sets taking Further Maths A level every year.  The lessons for this post will be arranged from Monday to Friday for the duration of this contract.

Teacher of Maths Maternity Cover - Applicant Details

We are seeking highly organised and enthusiastic candidates to support and develop the School’s admissions activities in the following roles:

ADMISSIONS & EVENTS EXECUTIVE

Responsible for organising and ensuring the smooth running of admissions events including open days, taster days, assessment days, feeder school outreach events and senior school evenings. Other duties will include supporting the Admissions team with all enquiries and throughout the assessment process.

The ideal candidate will have events management experience, the ability to deliver exceptional customer service with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. She/he will be familiar with using databases to track and monitor the customer journey and equally comfortable meeting families and representing Wycombe Abbey at both internal and external events.

 

ADMISSIONS ADMINISTRATOR

Responsible for providing general administrative support and to assist in the smooth running of the admissions process.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrator who is looking to be involved in a professional and busy school community. The role requires excellent organisational skills, a good telephone manner and level of written communication, database experience, an ability to work accurately under pressure and to multi-task across all aspects of administration.

All pupils joining Wycombe Abbey in Year 7 are part of our busy and lively Junior House. It provides girls with a welcoming environment to settle into their new school and to bond as a year group. The Housemistress has responsibility for each girl’s personal and academic development and is an important point of contact for the parents of our youngest boarders. Head of Junior House - Applicant Details

Visiting Teacher of Speech and Drama/LAMDA - Job Description

Set in magnificent grounds spanning over 170 acres, Wycombe Abbey offers its pupils a country lifestyle, whilst being located in the town of High Wycombe. Our self-contained estate comprises a diverse range of historic listed buildings as well as newly built properties. Facilities include a range of boarding houses, a state-of-the-art sports centre, a performing arts centre, a chapel, staff houses, sports pitches and courts, a lake, parkland and woodland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a project management professional to join our Estate Maintenance Team and take responsibility for a variety of estates development and refurbishment projects.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, all year round.  Some weekend work will be required.

The position is particularly suited to someone with project design experience with a proven track record of managing complex projects to successful completion and the ability to control, oversee and prioritise multiple projects in a round-the-clock boarding school community. The successful applicant will require the ability to manage various contractors to ensure the completion of projects to the highest standards of workmanship. The ability to use AutoCAD for technical drawing would be an advantage, but not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance/Plumbing Assistant to maintain, upkeep and improve the School’s property and equipment, conforming to the highest standards of workmanship and Health & Safety.

The successful candidate will have proven plumbing experience with general plumbing works. Plumbing qualifications are desirable but not essential.

The post holder must hold a current-valid driving licence.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Working 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with a one hour paid lunch break. The post holder will be expected to participate in an emergency call-out arrangement. Call-outs will attract additional one-off payments.

Maintenance/Plumbing Assistant - Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the Grounds and Gardens Team at Wycombe Abbey.

The School is situated in the centre of High Wycombe in its own grounds of 160 acres. It is a Conservation Area and is listed in the Register of Parks and Gardens by English Heritage. Whilst most of the grounds are given over to Parkland, Woodland or School Buildings, there are important areas of shrub borders which complement the buildings and grounds.

The Apprentice Groundsperson/Gardener will learn to maintain, upkeep, and improve the School’s grounds and/or gardens, conforming to the highest standards of workmanship and Health & Safety.

The expected duration of the apprenticeship would be 2 years and the successful completion of the training provided will lead to the Level 2 Horticulture Operative qualification.

Applicants must be aged 16 or over with a good general school education.

 

Hours of work: 7.30am – 3.45pm Monday Friday (with 1-hour unpaid lunch break) plus every third Saturday 7.30am to 11.30am. Day release to attend the horticulture college course at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) during college term time
