We welcomed over two hundred Seniors and their family members to our annual Seniors' Lacrosse Match and Carol Service on Sunday 11 December.
The match was fiercely competitive, with our Head of Lacrosse, Miss Laura Merrifield and Assistant Director of Sport, Mrs Fiona Gee taking part alongside the Seniors and the 1st XII. It was great to see our alumnae back on the sports field, many of whom still represent their university or local club, and others who hadn't picked up their stick for a while. There was a great atmosphere on the side-lines and the Seniors finished the match as overall winners (they did borrow some of our current players to make up numbers though!).
Afternoon tea was served in Big School, hosted by the School Prefects, with an opportunity to purchase school merchandise, in particular the recently launched ‘Humans of Wycombe Abbey' book with a special opportunity for a copy to be signed by the authors, Riva and Gigi, LVI.
A service of nine lessons and carols began with a candlelit procession by the Chapel Choir which created a wonderfully festive atmosphere. With much volume, the Charterhouse Carol was sung, a firm favourite with Seniors and current girls alike.
We were excited to introduce our new café area, The Courtyard, to our guests, in what many remembered to be Gym Courtyard. Mulled wine and mince pies were served to end a joyful afternoon with friends and colleagues.
We wish all our Seniors a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
