Settling in for Upper Three

The first week at a new school is a special occasion and it certainly was the case for our new Junior House girls.
Our annual Headmistress’ picnic was a little different this year as with the ending of Covid-19 restrictions, we decided to go off-site and spend the afternoon in Wendover Woods. We managed to avoid the rain showers and enjoyed our picnic in the sunshine. Everybody also had the opportunity to go on the ‘Go Ape!’ course, including Mrs Duncan!
Below is an account of the day from Alice, one of our new Junior House Boarders.
“After a long bus ride, full of singing, we pulled up into the parking lot. Wendover Woods, what a sight! The picnic in our hands we walked towards a beautiful clearing. We laid down some blankets and enjoyed the food. Sandwiches, crisps and cupcakes. All finished, we got up and enjoyed the fresh air.
Hula hooping competitions and trails around the woods. Then it was finally our turn on ‘Go Ape!’. We got all our equipment on and climbed up the steep steps. Carabiners on and off. Rickity ladders and a long way down. A laugh and a giggle we got onto level two. Zipline through the trees and a perfect landing. We grabbed our bags and head towards the coach. What a day this was. We fastened our seat belts and left the woods.”
It was a fabulous opportunity to get to know this new cohort of Wycombe Abbey girls. They are a vibrant and enthusiastic group and I look forward to seeing all they achieve over the next year in Junior House.
During the first few weeks of their new school, the Junior House girls were also asked to write down their first impressions.
