Sam Holcroft’s ‘The Wardrobe’ is a play exploring British history: how the country was shaped, and how connected (or otherwise) we are with our past. It was commissioned as part of the 2014 National Theatre Connections Festival.
Our LIV, UIV and LV girls will be performing the play on 30 April and 1 May in LAC theatre at 7pm. It promises to be a great production. To purchase tickets xxxxxxxx.
The play’s action is set in different time periods across several centuries, but all within the same large wardrobe. In each scene, we see children climb into the wardrobe, seeking sanctuary of one sort or another. The scenes take us through various moments in British and world history, ranging from the bedchamber of Elizabeth of York on 27 October 1485, to ‘a museum, somewhere in Britain, 2014’.
