Supporting Charities Far and Wide

Every year a vote is cast across School to decide upon the main charities school will support during the year. This year, Renewable World which tackles poverty using renewable energy, and Wycombe Homeless Connection which helps people who are homeless or facing homelessness were selected. As well as supporting these charities, the girls have acted quickly to support international disasters and causes they are particularly passionate about including: The Melanesian Mission UK, The Red Cross to support aid efforts for the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings, and The One Can Trust.

A variety of events have been held to raise funds for each charity including: activities at GlastonAbbey, sports dinner ticket sales, bake sales, a sponsored sleep-out, Dove Day raffle, book publication proceeds, bonfire night charity stalls and various House events. The Charity Representatives of each House have been working hard to support each event and every girl in the School has given back to the community in her own way.

Most recently, a swimming gala was organised by two of our LVI girls. Each House established a team of swimmers for races such as the t-shirt relay and fin relay. The House Charity Reps made cakes to sell and the swimmers raised an incredible amount of sponsorship money. In total, a tremendous, £2530 was raised for our elected school charities.

A charity newsletter has been produced by the girls. To read the latest issue please click here.
