Caledonian Ball at Eton
Socials are an integral part of life at Wycombe and is a rare weekend that doesn't contain something, whether it be a formal occasion such as the Annual Ball with Eton or a more informal House visit to Pizza Hut with one of the Houses from a boys' school such as Harrow or Radley.

Sinai Expedition

As all of our families adjusted their body clocks to British Summer Time, we, the 35 Wycombe Abbey girls, along with 4 members of staff and 2 Wind, Sand and Stars guides were embracing the drastic transformation into the Bedouin way of life. Upon disembarking the aeroplane, we boarded a coach which took us two hours into the depths of the Sinai desert. Just as we thought our travelling was over, several Jeeps arrived to take us even further away from civilisation. The ride was not a smooth one, hurtling through sand tracks and past treacherous rocks, we joyfully feared for our lives until eventually we came to rest at our camp site. Here, we sat around a camp fire, drinking black tea and eating the infamous Egyptian biscuits, enthusing about the week ahead of us. Little did we know that tea and biscuits would become a regular and treasured feature in our desert lives.

Venezuela Expedition

The expedition was a fantastic opportunity for girls to participate in a true experience of a lifetime, with safe, professional and responsible supervision. It was the climax of up to eighteen months of supported, focused planning and training, during which the team became fully prepared for their trip.

All the girls and staff involved found it a rewarding experience and enjoyed both the fabulous scenery and the opportunity to be involved in the lives of people from avery diferent cultural and economic background.

Bronze and Gold D of E Expeditions

Gold Expedition

Twenty-five girls set off for the Lake District at the beginning of the Easter holidays, for their Gold D of E Expedition. One group was on assessment, and three groups were on practice. We were blessed with glorious weather, perfect for walking with hazy sunshine and a crispness in the air, although the nights were very cold with ice forming on the tents. All the girls appreciated some fantastic scenery and enjoyed some real wilderness camping experiences. The assessed girls passed with flying colours, the assessor being most complimentary about their teamwork and spirit. (Assessed girls Emily Stott, Georgina Shryane, Camilla Gardner, Cicely Hadman and Venetia Kronsten)

Bronze Expedition

The combination of glorious weather and carpets of spring flowers in the woodlands enabled 71 LV girls to really enjoy their assessed Bronze D of E expedition in the Chiltern Hills on the weekend of 28/29 April 2007. Although quite what the strange aura around the campsite was we may never know.....
