Successful trip to Changzhou

During the Easter holiday Mr Mercer-Kelly, Miss Joseph, Miss Bowen and Dr Dawber visited Wycombe Abbey International School, our sister school site in Changzhou, China. The school, which is about one hour from Shanghai, has been undergoing rapid growth over the past few years and by September 2018 will have over 1,000 pupils from kindergarten to Year 13. With a holistic education focus encompassing a broad range of extra-curricular opportunities, it aims to equip its students with the skills to be innovative and collaborative.

Our  team were there to observe the quality of teaching and learning, and they spent time in a range of curriculum lessons, as well as meeting with the leadership team, and visiting the boarding houses in the evening. A particular highlight for the team was being able to teach a lesson to the Changzhou pupils and getting the opportunity to talk to them about their experiences of the school. It was a fascinating visit that was very rewarding for all involved, providing an opportunity for reflection on our professional practice and the chance to see the challenges that teaching in a different culture presents.
