1st XII Lacrosse rise to the challenge against Oxford University
At the Midlands Schools Lacrosse tournament, hosted by Stowe on Saturday, all 3 senior teams achieved some good results.
In the A team tournament our 1sts consistently dominated the group stages. Winning all their section matches, they sailed through to the semi-finals where they met stronger opposition in Moreton Hall. Nevertheless, raising their game to an even higher level Wycombe triumphed 3 -0. In the critical final match we faced an athletic and feisty side from Bedford High who challenged in all areas of the field. Led by POTs, Erika and Hannah, Wycombe maintained their stranglehold on the tournament retaining the silverware with an emphatic 4 - 2 victory.
The 2nd team finished as runners up in their tournament behind a strong Moreton Hall side. They maintained an admirable work ethic and good team defence skills throughout. POTs were Vicki and Carini who inspired their squad to a narrow victory over the 3rd team in an all-Wycombe affair in the final game.
Our 3rd team playing in the 2nd team tournament won 4 out of their 8 matches. Despite losing some games they felt they could have won, their play improved as the tournament progressed and they finished a very creditable 4th. POT(player of the tournament) for the 3rds was Naomi.
