Management Conference 2011

LVI joined with the Royal Grammar School to take part in the annual Management Conference this term. Divided into mixed groups, we competed against each other in an attempt to start up the most successful pizza parlour in the fictional town of Villeburg. We were introduced to the language and pressures of business life through bidding for sites, meeting deadlines and attempting to make the crucial profit every quarter.

Our time in the board room was interspersed with talks from engaging speakers from across the professional world. They challenged our assumptions about these careers and gave us the opportunity to test various skills, from interpreting legislation to basic investment, which we attempted with varying degrees of success…

The two days gave LVI at Wycombe and RGS the opportunity to collaborate on a project which encouraged diplomacy, energy, organisation and originality, allowing each member of each group to focus on an area which suited his or her skills and to valuably contribute to the tasks we were set. We are really grateful to Mrs Mason, Miss Boswell, Dr Bates and all the staff who gave up their time to help run the Conference and make it such a success.
