1st XII Lacrosse rise to the challenge against Oxford University
We have just received news from the Isaiah Trust which was the whole School charity for the previous two years. Of particular interest in the December 2009 newsletter was the update on the flourishing Resource Centre which was set up and funded by donations from Wycombe Abbey...
The Wycombe Abbey girls should be particularly proud of the achievement of Atanas Evole, whose primary school education was exclusively funded by donations from Wycombe Abbey. Fifteen percent of children in Kenya don't even get to go to primary school. Atanas went on to achieve an exceptionally high score in the KCPE. This means that he will now be one of only twenty five percent of the children in Kenya who go on to high school. His score of 345 out of 500, was one of the highest in the district and compares to a top mark of 438. He has out performed most children attending private schools.
This is a tremendous achievement and it is wonderful to see how Wycombe Abbey girls and parents have made such an enormous change to Atanas Evole's life and how the Resource Centre is continuing to transform the lives of many others in Kenya.
Thank you everyone!
