| Wycombe Abbey School Website Latest School News: Outstanding A Level & GCSE Results
Wycombe Abbey School has achieved outstanding A Level and GCSE results again this year. Over 50% (50.4%) of our A Level candidate entries were awarded the new A* and out of 76 candidates, 26 achieved A*s in 3, 4 or 5 subjects and 87.5% of our entries were graded A* or A taken together, almost identical to the School's record in 2007. Congratulations to girls and staff on their excellent results. It is wonderful to see girls and staff rewarded for their hard work over two years with such outstanding results. Whether going straight to their chosen university this autumn or applying for a place following a gap year, the girls can go forward with confidence that they are well equipped to study courses at some of the top universities in this country and abroad. Our GCSE pupils have achieved remarkable results too, beating the School's all-time record, with over 99% of candidate entries being awarded A* or A. The much coveted A* grade was awarded to over 84% of candidate entries. Out of 89 candidates, 48 achieved A*s in 9 or more subjects. The academic programme is only one aspect of the education girls receive at Wycombe Abbey. Girls undertake a rich extra-curricular programme involving sport, music, drama, debating and fund-raising for charity among many other activities. The full boarding structure allows the girls to balance their academic studies with other individual interests where they develop wide-ranging skills. I am delighted for the girls and their teachers that they have all done so well. Their parents, I feel sure, will be very proud of them. Mrs Cynthia Hall |
