Wycombe Abbey: Gymnastic team grab gold and glory

Our U16 Gymnastics team have done it again and snatched gold at the Carita House Southern Regional Team Championships! Competition was even stiffer this year with some excellent team performances from Wycombe High, Dr Challoner's and hosts Beaconsfield High.

During the morning sessions our six gymnasts performed individual floor routines and a vault, followed in the afternoon by a group sequence. The standard of the group sequences from all schools was very high but Wycombe Abbey produced a breath-taking and virtually flawless performance which had the audience completely mesmerized!

The results ceremony was a nail-biting occasion as Wycombe waited to hear if they would be going to the National Finals for the second year in succession. With a final score of 97.5, they beat Beaconsfield High by just 0.4 of a mark and will now look forward to Nationals in Stoke-on-Trent in mid March.

Congratulations to our gymnasts - Fawn, Nadine, Frankie, Lelaina, Misty and Sadhbha - who have to give up so much time and put in so much hard work to reach these dizzying heights. Finally, none of this would be possible without the fantastic Laura Timmins, our visiting gym coach, who so expertly steers these girls to the very top!
