LIV Perform Mulan

During the course of activities weekend, LIV had the chance to learn and perform the feminist favourite, Mulan. Helping us along the way with our production of the Disney classic was the professional theatre company Cut and Thrust, who sent over three of their finest teachers.

A few highlights of the subsequent two days included learning about and applying dramatic stage make-up, singing the iconic songs like Reflection and, perhaps most enjoyably of all, being taught how to stage mock fights equipped with long wooden sticks, foam swords or just our own hands. Though at first learning everything for the performance seemed a mammoth task, by the end we managed to all work together and smooth most of the errors out of our performance.

We performed our 20 minute long production in front of friends and family and all our hard work from the preceding days paid off. A big thank you goes out to Miss Livesey, Mr McGowan, Miss Hoyle, Mrs Wallace and Mrs Armstrong for all their help and advice, and also to Cut and Thrust for all the time invested in making our production work.
