History University Preparation Day

On Thursday 15 June, Lower Sixth pupils who aspire to read History at university took part in the History University Preparation Day. They participated in a variety of sessions that opened their eyes to new ways of looking at the past and gave them much to reflect upon over the upcoming Summer break. In the final session of the day, the girls were also treated to a special History masterclass by Dr Andrew Spencer, Admissions Tutor at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge. Dr Spencer spoke on a number of topics including how to impress with personal statements and how best to approach interviews. He also shared his expertise by teaching the girls how to get the most out of different kinds of primary sources during a stimulating discussion. This was an invaluable experience and the girls really benefited from his insights. It was a fitting end to a thought-provoking day!
