Young Enterprise
In the LVI you have the option of joining the National Young Enterprise Scheme. This entails forming a small business company and running it from September to May. There is a joining fee of around £40, which goes to the administrators of the scheme.
You do everything a proper business would have to do. You appoint a Board of Directors and sell shares to raise capital You choose a name, decide on what products to make and sell or which services to offer. The companies are supported by advice and help from volunteer advisers from local industry and commerce. Company members learn skills, enter competitions between the schools in this area, and take an examination which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. The cost of the examination is currently £15.
