Duke of Edinburgh

Taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme gives the girls the opportunity to help people and the community as volunteers, develop skills, progress with a chosen sport, go on expeditions and take part in a residential activity (Gold only). They develop their own programme so that it contains activities that interest them.

The Awards can be taken at two levels, Bronze and Gold. Almost all LV pupils choose to take part in the Bronze Award Scheme (most start their expedition training in UIV), and an increasing number of girls are choosing to take part in the Gold Award Scheme from UV onwards. An Award is achieved by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections for the Bronze and five for the Gold.

As well as helping the girls to learn new skills and discover and develop talents, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards are a valuable addition to pupils' university applications.
