Junior House is a happy, lively, caring environment, which allows the girls to settle into boarding in a friendly, positive and homely atmosphere. This first year they spend in Junior House enables them to “find their feet”, become familiar with their peers and develop friendships, many of which will remain with them throughout their lives.
The dormitories are bright and inviting. The house benefits from new dining and computer areas, which have been described as being like a fabulous “internet café”. Here the girls can relax, play, email or finish off that last piece of prep. We have five pianos and two music practice rooms. The art and craft Recreation Room is always available for making cards and posters.
There is a high staff to pupil ratio, ranging from our three young graduate Resident Tutors, to the more mature and experienced Housemistress, Assistant Housemistress and Matron. The Housemistress is also a teaching member of staff which means she can relate both to academic and personal issues. Matron organises the domestic matters and works closely with the other staff to provide a high level of care and support in safe, stimulating and pleasing surroundings.
