We offer a wide variety of different languages from French to Mandarin, Spanish to Italian. Nearly all girls will achieve an A or A* at GCSE and many choose to continue to A level and beyond.
As a department we partake in various public competitions where our girls excel via their knowledge of languages. There is also a weekly News Club and a very active Modern Languages Society. The department organises study holidays and exchanges in place in areas such as Seville, Bavaria and Montpellier. It also prides itself on the use of two multimedia virtual language laboratories which are employed not only during lessons but also for clubs, presentations and revision.
Wycombe Abbey is fortunate to have strong links with the local community and to have, over a number of years formed close relationships with language tutors. As a result, as well as offering private tuition in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, we are able to offer tuition in any number of other languages, including Russian, Greek, Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic, Hindi, Swahili and Thai.
